California Native Day at CSUSB 2010

Last night at Cal State San Bernardino... Once again the public had turned out in great numbers for California Native day... I would say more than last year...
Kim Marcus Started out with a Traditional Blessing with Tobacco to open up the event... San Manuel's respected elder :
Pauline Murillo, and Chairman James Ramos along with other's join in with the blessing.
Ernest Siva sang some Serrano Bighorn Sheep Songs with the guys at the event... Wonderfully If i may say...
With other California Native traditional performances planned for the night... it was a great sample of the California Native Cultural make up... From Yurok Brush Dancers .... to Cahuilla Bird Singers...It is all of our differences and efforts to get out what a California Native is... and what we did then and still do today.

Presently and in the Past, The California native american has contributed their Cultural Knowledge for purposes of educational and in some cases ....economical purposes. In the past, Numbers of native Americans left their reservations, for work to feed their families and ease the strain on their older family members on the reservations. Some left for jobs.. Some left to go to the military services, such as men like in my Family...My Grandfathers,Uncles had joined the Marines, Army and Navy.
Today Native Americans can support their country and communities in both large and small ways. From the Native Serving his country in the military... to the native in the booth passing our literature on sharing their tribal traditions... to The Local tribe that funds the construction of a building that is named after their tribal leader Santos Manuel... We have always been a contributing people to the southern California community.
We are a people of resilience, we have been and always will be here to STAY....
