Malki Museum agave roast 2010

Last weekend at Malki's Agave Roast...

Dan McCarthy
was in the process of preparation of the roasted agave that he had cooked in a pit....
Just next to kitchen area of the Malki Museum complex...

This Spring at Malki ... was very different this year without Alvino Siva... It's been sort of Tradition for us to visit with Alvino this time of year for the Roast and to hear him sing during the Fiestas.
It was good to also see other's there this year, Tonita Largo-Glover along with...
Lorene Sisquoc and Monica Archuletta... a Hard working Family I have had the honor of coming across in my life. Tonita and Lorene have been nothing but welcoming towards us, as well as some others in my family who have approached them on their own. This Family works hard on preserving the many Native American Cultures in many multiple ways... and informing others about the diferences ... they have never stopped. They have set a the bar high for people like myself to only dream partially of accomplishing their multiple achievements.
They're people all over the Southern California area that are helping to proudly Preserve the Native American Culture which they descend from ... people such as,
... Steve Estrada and Michael Mirelez .. who not only sang Cahuilla Bird songs at the Roast... But help keep native men's moral compasses straight by applying that to their own lives and it shows. Its just only one part of what these men do to keep what is in existence today... here for tomorrow... Also other's like Walter Holmes ..Also doing the Hard work of keeping things going positively... was there at the Malki roast Singing ... good to see the guys singing again since we last where at Malki with Big Al..... it was good to see em all.
